Upgrading to a 7 channel amplifier for your home theater system is now affordable and simple. The MC 7150 is a high performance multi-channel amp in a package that is attractive, functional and powerful. Taking advantage of class D technology allows us to create an amp that will enhance your music and movie experience with over 90% efficiency! In addition to having a more “Green” approach to powering your system, this efficiency rating means very little power is wasted. Often times, entertainment systems are configured with small cabinets which are not designed for components that require ample ventilation. We have ensured the MC 7150 will operate in tight enclosures without creating excessive heat so you can pick the entertainment center you want, not the one you are forced to buy.
The MC 7150 is a drop in amp for high performance 7 channel systems and with 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms, it has adequate power for the majority of speakers on the market. Additionally it will be very effective for 5 channel systems where the front two channels need to be bi-amped. Such flexibility and muscle is limited with the majority of receivers on the market. The MC 7150 is able to provide exceptional dynamic performance, micro-dynamics as well as excellent bottom end control. These characteristics are essential for the ultimate movie experience. Power is delivered to your speakers through 14AWG OFC wiring connected to gold plated, insulated 5-way binding posts. Power consumption when the unit is in standby is less than 0.5w! Additionally we have included a 12V DC trigger to allow the amp to be powered on and off with your processor.
The input stage of this amplifier is simple and functional. On the rear of the unit you will find 7 RCA inputs which feed into a refined version of our 2nd generation MC input buffer. Like most home theater processors, the MC 7150 is single ended so we have excluded the option for balanced inputs. The transparent and neutral qualities of this amp will ensure optimum results when using the tuning features of your processor such as Auto-Calibration, EQ and or the crossover. The only button on the entire amp is the power button making it very simple to operate and install. Another great feature of the unit is that you can operate any number of channels. The unused channels will consume a negligible amount of current.
The new chassis is even more attractive than ever and still keeps the functionality that we have come to love. Over the years, we have been criticized for our “utilitarian” style and many have requested a fresh look. The MC 7150 delivers that without any visible screws on the front and sides. From the user position, the unit will reveal only two screws tucked neatly in the rear edge of the top cover. The front panel is meticulously machined from a solid piece of 1” aluminum and powder coated black. A radius on either side of the front panel rounds the corners off elegantly to seamlessly blend with the side extrusions. The top cover is available in clear anodize (Silver) or black and has stylish venting allowing any residual heat to escape. The chassis is formed from steel, powder coated black, and has venting in both the bottom and rear to attribute to passive cooling of the internal circuitry. Having a structure such as this has allowed us to have a product that is very rigid and immune to frequencies and vibrations which can be generated by the various components in a HiFi system.
